How Are Popcorn Ceilings Removed?
If a popcorn ceiling has not been painted, the process is fairly straightforward. First, the ceiling is saturated with water, which helps the popcorn texture be easy to scrape off. If the ceiling has been painted, then the paint has to be stripped first or the water won’t be able to help separate the popcorn texture from the ceiling itself.
We use a special paint stripper designed for popcorn ceilings. This stripper is brushed or rolled on to the surface of the ceiling and is designed not to drip away. After it has soaked in, we are then able to scrape away the texture. It is important that the ceiling be kept consistently wet to make the removal safe and healthy for everyone in the house.

If you are lucky enough to get on their schedule, do so. This team is more than a group of painters. They did extensive wall and ceiling repair in our 50 year-old home before painting.
